Moxibustion involves the burning of ‘moxa’ (a dried form of the herb mugwort) over specific areas or points on the body in order to: stimulate the circulation, combat ‘cold’ conditions, and support acupuncture treatments.
Moxa may be burnt either directly on the skin, on the end of acupuncture
needles, or in the form of a cigar shaped stick that is held close to the skin – in
order to transmit warmth in to the body.
In consideration of modern preferences, Moray Acupuncture offers the use of ‘smokeless’ moxa.
